Classical Art Instruction in Loveland, Colorado
Schissler Academy of Fine Arts is a classical art instruction academy located in the historic downtown of Loveland, Colorado. Our primary instruction is based on the underlying principles of drawing and painting taught by master artists since the Renaissance. No matter if your ultimate goal is to create artworks in watercolor or oils, to represent figures or landscapes, each student-artist can benefit from the study of the foundational elements of visual art; line, tone (also known as value, it refers to the gradient from dark to light used to create a sense of form), and color theory.
At Schissler Academy of Fine arts we mirror the methods of the classical masters by studying these principles from life, using still life subjects as reference. When the student has a sufficient foundation in these invaluable techniques, we are able to cater each student's art education to pursue their individual interests, work to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.
The Academy offers classes for student-artists of all ages (youth and adult) and levels of experience, ranging from complete beginners to professional artists who want to take their work to the next level through the study of classical techniques. Our classes are structured in such a way as to cater to each individual's personal level of ability and interest, working on their own project at their own pace.
Classes are offered in the inspiring setting of the beautiful, historic Bonnell building. Our students enjoy a classroom environment that is at once professional, academic, friendly and encouraging. Modeled after the European structure of the studio/school known as the Atelier, our classes maintain a student/teacher ratio of no more than four to one. Because of this, our students receive more one-on-one attention than you are likely to find anywhere else. We strive to make every student feel comfortable and safe while being challenged in their artistic pursuits no matter what level they are working at.
