figure drawing I

June

Figure Drawing I is perfect for students who are interested in learning  the basics of drawing the human body. Over these four weeks, students will exercise several different methods of gesture when drawing the figure, as well as standard proportions. Following Anthony Ryder's methods, we will practice drawing the "envelope" and "blocking in" processes from photo references of nude models. We will study the  subtle contour lines of the human form, working mainly in graphite pencil and charcoal. By the end of this course, students will have the necessary understanding of the figure in order to move onto more advanced studies like anatomy and value.
